Dreams of Myōe

"Stones were alive, moving and could even see, for Myōe who had a special
affection for them. His deep sense of the interdependence of all things led to
the activation of the most primitive layers of the unconscious, bringing to life
an object usually thought to be nothing more than an accumulation of inert
substances."

-H. Kawai, The Buddhist Priest Myōe: A Life of Dreams. Venice, CA., 1992.
